Former Lazio Striker Di Canio Slams Romelu Lukaku

With rumours increasingly looming around Europe regarding Romelu Lukaku’s unhappiness at Chelsea and his desire to return to Inter within the near future, the former Lazio, Juventus, and West Ham marksman Paulo Di Canio gave his input the Lukaku situation.

While speaking with Sky Sports Italia, Di Canio explained that the Belgian international does not suit the current philosophy that Inzaghi has implemented within the Nerrazzurri.

Although Lukaku’s quality is difficult to ignore and his current discontent with the Blues could possibly push La Beneamata to plot a sensational acquisition to lure him back to the Stadio San Siro, Di Canio firmly believes that such a significant transfer would be a complete mistake: “He would be very expensive for a rotation player because he would be a bench option for the style of football that Inter are playing.hey play with a technically good striker who can also play with his back to goal.

“Lukaku is not capable of doing this. It’ s not the loss to Liverpool that has undermined Inter’s sense of certainty, it’s the five minutes against Milan that unsettled everything. Go to seven points clear, kill Milan off, and the title race is over. A seven point gap with a game in hand, and the title race is over. Those five minutes were devastating, they turned everything upside down.”

With the second half of the season underway, only time will tell how the Lukaku transfer saga will unfold.
