Former Milan Executive Meets with Roma Higher-Ups

Ex-Milan sporting director Ricky Massara touched base with the Roma brass before the game against Empoli. The official, who already worked in the Italian capital on separate occasions, is looking for a new team after being ousted by Milan.

According to Corriere dello Sport (via Calciomercato), he had a chat with current exec Tiago Pinto. The two talked shop but didn’t discuss a potential hiring.

Instead, per Centro Suono, Massara had contacts with Roma CEO Lina Souloukou, which would be more meaningful. The Portuguese official has less than a year on his contract with the club. There could be something cooking behind the scenes.

The former right-hand man of Walter Sabatini worked for the Giallorossi in various roles from 2016 and 2019. He briefly served as the head honcho after Monchi got the ax. He latched onto Paolo Maldini afterward and contributed to the Scudetto. The Rossoneri moved on from him and the club legend in June.

On top of Roma, Massara has been attached to a few sides since becoming a free agent. Massimiliano Allegri reportedly proposed him to the ownership since the two have a previous rapport. However, the hierarchy hand-picked Cristiano Giuntoli. Moreover, he was linked to Napoli, but they opted to onboard veteran Maurizio Meluso and also promoted from within.
