Francesco Totti Under Investigation Over Alleged License Breach

The Italian Football Association (FIGC) has opened an investigation about Francesco Totti and his company CT10 Management to look into whether he is acting as an agent without having a license, SportMediaset reports. The inquiry was started because of a complaint by the association of the players’ representatives (AIACS), which considers his activity unlawful.

His business was started about a year ago with the goal of supporting sporting and entertainment endeavors in Italy and abroad. Totti clarified last August: “I am not an agent, but I decided to invest in this industry as a sportsman and an entrepreneur, complying with all the laws and regulations. I built a service firm that mediates, consults and assists clubs and footballers and I coordinate and oversee the scouting department. We have some licensed professional that represent the players.”

The controversy was born few months back, when Totti expressed his desire to enroll Sandro Tonali: “I will try to sign him, he will join me if he is smart.” His agent Donato Di Campli replied: “He was a football icon, but being an agent is another sport and you have to play by the rules, not cheat. He can not operate in Italy, where you have to go through very challenging tests to get certified, only because the president of CONI (the Italian Olympic Committee) allows him to use an English license that does not require any qualifying examination.” An official complaint was filed shortly thereafter.
