Inter only just managed to edge RB Salzburg in their third UEFA Champions League group stage clash, winning 2-1 thanks to Hakan Çalhanoğlu’s penalty. Despite the Nerazzurri’s inefficiency, Davide Frattesi managed to establish his presence in Simone Inzaghi’s five-man midfield, winning the penalty that led to the winner. The MOTM revealed what it takes for Inter to play to the best of their strengths.
Speaking to Inter TV after the game, the ex-Sassuolo center midfielder took stock of the Nerazzurri’s strengths.
“Every play we make comes from tactics we try in training, then the situations bear fruit. We had prepared the match like this, we knew it was a team that came to press high but then left holes behind. We were good at unlocking it and then to keep it at a distance. We work a lot on channel runs, everyone can cut deep at any moment and create havoc in the opposing defenses.
