Frattesi Holds No Grudge Toward Roma for Missed Move

Davide Frattesi was close to joining his boyhood club Roma in January, but the Giallorossi ultimately didn’t meet Sassuolo’s requests. The midfielder discussed the transfer that didn’t go through to DAZN (via Tuttomercatoweb).

“I had built some illusions after seeing what was being reported. Now, I don’t care that much about the transfer market anymore and don’t waste time reading the news. I wouldn’t say I’m disappointed. The team is free to make its own choices. I’m not remorseful, rather I see it as extra motivation. If nobody believed in me enough to sign me, maybe it means that I wasn’t ready. I’m eager to prove that I am now.”

“I’ll have a different approach this time around. I used to ask around to know what would happen. However, it’s the wrong approach because you lose focus and then you risk making gaffes, as I did early this season. I hadn’t dealt with the matter properly, and it showed on the pitch.”

Frattesi was quizzed about Gianluca Scamacca.

“He was like a brother to me. We even shared a house for a few months last year.”

The midfielder hasn’t scored in a while.

“I was so nervous about it in the Spezia game that I wanted to smash the net. However, when that happens, you end up shooting the ball outside the stadium.”

Frattesi earned a call-up by Italy but didn’t play.

“There’s nothing certain, also because they are stacked in the role.”

The Sassuolo ace is now reportedly closer to Juventus, although Brighton are plotting to lodge a serious bid, the publication informs. Director Giovanni Carnevali stated over the weekend that the 23-year-old is worth as much as Scamacca, who moved for €40M.
