Frattesi Phones Idol De Rossi Amid Roma and Sassuolo Talks

Roma have increased their offer for Sassuolo’s Davide Frattesi, who is equally eager to make a move back to the Stadio Olimpico after having graduated from the Giallorrossi’s youth academy. The 22-year-old has not shied away from links to his boyhood club, and it seems like it’s only a matter of time before the Neroverdi accept the transfer proposal.

According to La Repubblica, Roma have offered €15M including add-ons, which falls short of Sassuolo’s €22M valuation of the midfielder. Negotiations are expected to be held this week in Milan as the two clubs evaluate the five-year contract along with the €1.6M net per season offer.

A swap deal is also another potential outcome in the negotiations, with Giallorossi starlet Cristian Volpato as the most likely contender if that were to happen. Amid all the transfer saga emerging, Frattesi himself is excited to star in the maroon-red of Mourinho’s Roma.

Recent reports from capital outlet Il Romanista (via SassuoloNews.net) indicates that the youngster is already planning the number of the shirt he wants to wear next season, following in the footsteps of his idol Daniele de Rossi.

Frattesi reportedly phoned the 2006 World Champion to ask for permission to wear his iconic number 16 shirt, which is currently unoccupied. While the club legend’s answer is unknown, the newspaper speculates it to be nothing short of positive.

Frattesi graduated from the Roma academy and was sold to Sassuolo for a €5M fee back in the summer of 2017. Since then he has appeared regularly for Ascoli, Monza and Empoli in Serie B – all on loan – before arriving back to Emilia-Romagna last season. He scored 4 goals in 38 caps for the Neroverdi in 2021/22.
