Frosinone Officially Return to Serie A After Four Years

Frosinone became Monday night the first team to gain the promotion to Serie A this season. After Bari’s draw with Cittadella earlier in the day, the Ciociari needed to beat Reggina to secure their objective. Their won convincingly, building a commanding lead in the first half and ultimately prevailing 3-1.

As La Gazzetta dello Sport relays, the Gialloblù are back in the top flight after a four-year absence. They dominated Serie B and clinched the achievement with three matchdays to go. They have been top of the league since the tenth round and boast the most prolific attack and the stingiest defense.

Frosinone reaped the benefits of a long-term technical project as Fabio Grosso has been at the helm since June 2021. They finished 9th in the past campaign, but they decided to stick with the 2006 World Champion. He had just a cup of coffee in Serie A in the past, managing three games at Brescia in 2019 before getting the ax.

The Ciociari leaned on a young back-bone, filled with loanees, and a few select veterans. Sassuolo’s goalie Stefano Turati and Inter’s striker Samuele Mulattieri have been two of their top contributors. Midfielder Gabriel Boloca and pacey winger Giuseppe Caso blossomed after struggling for playing time in previous years. Veteran Fabio Lucioni, who’s on a temporary spell from Lecce, earned his fourth promotion. Roberto Insigne put together a career season.

Frosinone will make their third appearance in the top flight in 2023/2024. They previously never lasted for more than one campaign. They are one of few Italian teams to own a stadium, the Benito Stirpe, which they started renovating in 2015 and inaugurated in 2017.
