It’s no secret that Juventus sporting director Cristiano Giuntoli is working around the clock to streamline the squad after completing several high-profile signings. United States international Weston McKennie has been on the chopping block since the start of the summer. But he has refused to leave Turin despite drawing numerous inquiries in Italy and abroad.
According to TMW, Galatasaray have joined the race for McKennie and would be ready to offer Juventus around €15 million to take the ex-Schalke man away from Serie A.
Juventus tried to include the 25-year-old in a swap deal to sign Douglas Luiz from Aston Villa. However, the USMNT midfielder nearly undermined the transfer as he rejected the Lions’ proposal, only for the Bianconeri to replace him with Enzo Barrenechea.
After a busted switch to Villa Park, FC Cincinnati and Inter Miami have placed McKennie on their lists of targets. Yet, neither MLS franchise has contacted Juventus to discuss a deal. In addition to several offers from foreign clubs, McKennie has attracted Fiorentina’s attention.
Fiorentina and Juventus have already done business this summer, with Moise Kean swapping the Allianz Stadium for Tuscany in an €18m deal. But with Galatasaray in the picture, there’s a feeling La Viola may end up empty-handed.
Known for their financial prowess, the Turks could offer McKennie substantial wages to price Raffaele Palladino’s side out of the move. On top of that, Juventus would earn more money from their outcast’s switch to Turkey.
