Raffaele Palladino has been promoted from the youth team to be the next permanent Monza coach, as CEO Adriano Galliani explained in a presser (via Tuttomercatoweb).
“We want to send a big hug to Giovanni Stroppa, who brought us to Serie A just three months ago. It was an extraordinary result that made us all proud. It’s fantastic to think that we will face Juventus Sunday. However, this is football. If the results are poor, a coaching change is in the cards. We are at the bottom of the table and made the call.”
The executive explained why they picked Palladino above other options Monza had reached out to.
“He will not be a caretaker manager. He’s our coach of the future. The reason is very simple: he started his journey very well. We mulled it over with president Silvio Berlusconi and considered other names too, but we landed on him. We’re sure he will do well. He has the makings of a great gaffer. It’s a courageous choice, but we did something similar when we hired Arrigo Sacchi at Milan.”
Palladino explained his ideas and plans for Monza.
“Gian Piero Gasperini was my main teacher, but I had other great managers and tried to take something away from each of them. I’m focusing on the tactics for now, and we are looking for the best possible solution to convey my philosophy. The emotional aspect must always be on point. The goup is very available. I think enthusiasm is key in football. We have to be light in the head and positive and have a big hearth and an incredible spirit. We have to do better than before.”
