Garcia Offers Napoli Squad Update Ahead of Milan Clash

Napoli boss Rudi Garcia has delivered a promising fitness update ahead of Sunday’s heavyweight Serie A showdown against Milan. Speaking to the press in the build-up, the Frenchman confirmed Andre-Frank Zambo Anguissa could return to the Partenopei lineup against Rossoneri.

Garcia praised Jens Cajuste’s contribution in a 3-1 win at Hellas Verona last weekend. The summer arrival deputized for Zambo Anguissa as Napoli squeezed past Union Berlin 1-0 in midweek Champions League action. But it wasn’t his best performance.

Cajuste was one of the best on the pitch in Verona. He didn’t do the same in Berlin, but that doesn’t mean he doesn’t have my trust. It has 100% of it,” the Napoli manager said, as quoted by Calciomercato

Cajuste remains the leading candidate to start in the midfield alongside Stanislav Lobotka and Piotr Zielinski. But Anguissa is also in contention as Napoli bid to end a three-game losing home league run against Milan.

Anguissa has recovered but does not have the 90 minutes, we will see if he plays and then comes out or enters the second half of the match. He needs to find the rhythm of the competition, of the matches,” Garcia admitted.

Anguissa’s return to the fold can settle fans’ nerves, as Napoli will be without their standout striker Victor Osimhen. The Nigerian striker is still on the sidelines with a thigh injury, the same problem that has tormented the Cameroonian midfielder these past few weeks.
