Garcia Shares His Thoughts About Slow Start by Napoli

Rudi Garcia acknowledged the subpar recent results by his team but downplayed the difficulties ahead of the Champions League clash with Real Sociedad (via Tuttomercatoweb).

“We’re fifth. We wanted to do better, but we’re only at the start of the season. In my opinion, we bungled just two halves so far, the second one against Lazio and the first in the Genoa game. We have to be more continuous. Still, this is a different competition. There are only six matches, so they mean more.”

The coach was quizzed about Aurelio De Laurentiis’ mood.

“I heard from him at the same rate as usual. I’m serene and tranquil. It seems the same goes for him.”

Garcia dished on their main issues so far.

“We have to be more effective in the box and keep clean sheets. We’ve conceded five goals on eight shots. It means that we aren’t defending poorly. There was a penalty, plus Genoa scored on two set-pieces, and Lazio on counters. Those aren’t repeated situations.”

Garcia mused on Victor Osimhen and Khvicha Kvaratskhelia.

“The whole squad is important, not just the starting XI. The former started well, and we hope he hits the net in this one. Instead, the Georgian was slowed down by an injury during the preparation and missed time. I want him in a good headspace. He needs to be decisive. He hasn’t scored in a while, but he mustn’t think about it.”
