Gareth Southgate Praises England Duo Who Have Taken Serie A By Storm

Two English youngsters have taken the Serie A by storm, starring for Milan and Roma in fantastic manner. Tammy Abraham and Fikayo Tomori have had an amazing 2021/22 season in Italy, with it being the former’s first and the latter’s second.

Abraham marked Jose Mourinho’s first campaign with the Giallorossi by registering astonishing numbers, as he scored 27 goals and assisted 5 times in 52 appearances. Whereas, Tomori’s rise to stardom began the day he was brought to Milan from Chelsea in 2020/21 after the club exercised their £25m buy option from his previous loan.

The duo’s performances have not only garnered the attention of several top clubs, but also the coach of their national team, Gareth Southgate. The next UEFA Nations League tournament will both of them star in the starting eleven.

The England manager then went on to further praise Tomori for playing a pivotal role in grabbing the Rossoneri’s first Scudetto title in over a decade.

“He had a great season with Milan. Now he is in high spirits for winning the Scudetto. He plays in Milan, where there are 70 or 80 thousand fans every week “It’s a kind of pressure similar to what you feel playing for the England national team. It’s an important aspect to consider,” said Southgate.

The UEFA Nations league will see England take on Hungary on the opening matchday, before they will go on to face Germany and Italy in the other two matches.
