Genoa Make Attempt to Lure Disgraced Juventus Defender

Despite the advances by Union Berlin, Leonardo Bonucci wants to wait for an Italian landing spot to emerge before accepting a transfer abroad, and Genoa recently joined the list of suitors, SportMediaset informs.

The Grifone are helmed by his former Azzurri teammate Alberto Gilardino, who’s trying to convince him. The Rossoblù are looking for veteran reinforcements after a so-so start to the season. They bounced back after a drubbing at the hands of Fiorentina by nipping Lazio away. The defender spent a season on loan in Liguria as a youngster but didn’t feature with the first team.

Per La Repubblica, Bonucci favors Lazio over Genoa and Union Berlin. The Biancocelesti have yet to make up their minds about signing him, though. Moreover, they are potentially already set in the back.

In the meantime, his lawyer sent another certified email to Juventus to request his reinstatement. He might soon file a lawsuit for damages, La Gazzetta dello Sport informs.

Our Take on Bonucci and Genoa

It’d be a slightly weird move, but it would allow him to be a starter, something he would be hard-pressed to find in other teams. It’s pretty clear he’s awaiting Lazio at this point, although the move to Union Berlin would be perfectly fine.
