Genoa Reinforce Strike Force with former Chievo Youth Product

Chievo Verona youth product Caleb Ekuban, who has played with Trabzonspor since the 2018/19 season is finally leaving the club to return back to Italy. The Ghana international has confirmed his departure from Turkey. The 27-year-old striker is believed to be part of a €2m transfer deal, according to Sky Sport Italia.

Ekuban came through the Chievo youth academy ranks 2012 before being loaned out to Serie B and Serie C clubs. Leeds United took note of his progress and signed him in 2017, where he played for just one season. Trabzonspor loaned him in 2018 and made the transfer permanent the following season.

So far, Ekuban has a career total of 57 goals in 245 professional appearances. He has a transfermarkt value of €7m.

His Genoa move will give him the opportunity to make his Serie A debut. Trabzonspor coach Abdallah Avci has however, expressed his disappointment over the Ghanian’s sudden transfer. His contract with the Turkish club was bound to expire next year.
