Genoa Shortlist Venezia Striker Pohjanpalo to Boost Attack

Arguably the most active top-flight club this season, having introduced 13 fresh faces this season, Genoa are unlikely to put a halt to their transfer market activities. The Grifone are trying their best to onboard two defenders – Alessandro Zanoli from Napoli on a loan deal, subject to Rudi Garcia’s decision, and German Pezzella from Real Betis.

However, their search to sign a striker has taken them back to Serie B. Venezia’s Joel Pohjanpalo has fallen on Genoa’s transfer radar, as per Il Secolo XIX (via Tuttomercatoweb)

Pohjanpalo has a release clause of €3M, falling within Genoa’s budget range for frontline reinforcements. He still has two years left on his Venezia contract.

However, before bringing aboard any center-forward, the Grifone could very well ponder letting go of one of their six strikers upfront, excluding Mateo Retegui.

Some of the high-profile names signed by Genoa this window include Retegui, Radu Dragusin, Ruslan Malinovskyi, Morten Thorsby, and Junior Messias.
