Genoa Want a Very Lofty Sum for In-Demand Attacker

Albert Gudmundsson was one of the main characters of the January window especially due to Fiorentina’s late bid to sign him. Genoa turned down every offer as they believe they’ll be able to earn as much as they demand in the summer, Tuttomercatoweb informs.

In the meantime, they have nabbed a potential replacement early. They came to terms with Marseille to onboard Vitinha on loan with a €25M option to buy. The package envisaged the early redemption of Ruslan Malinovskyi for €7M.

It’ll be tough for the Grifone to retain the newcomer unless they sell Gudmundsson. They are trying to stoke a bidding war. All the top Serie A sides, Roma, Milan, Juventus, Napoli, and Lazio could be in the running under the right circumstances. Tottenham, which purchased Radu Dragusin, and West Ham could pursue him as well.

Genoa have set a €35M price tag for the attacker. It’s the same amount they asked Fiorentina in the final days of the transfer market session.

Our Take on Gudmundsson

He’s pretty great, but he’s also 26, so he doesn’t have many more levels to go to. Considering his versatility, level of success in a smaller side, and low wages, he’s a quality target for any big team. Still, it’s hard to imagine any Serie A club shelling out that much. The Rossoblù have better odds of getting close to such a figure abroad. Or they’ll have to settle for packages that include makeweights.
