Genoa Winger Gudmundsson Monitored by Sassuolo and Co.

Following an impressive debut season-and-a-half in Italy with Genoa, Iceland winger Albert Gudmundsson could soon take the step up and sign for a bigger team. The PSV Eindhoven youth product has been linked to a few top-tier Italian teams, including Milan, but Sassuolo have started monitoring the winger with great interest.

As per La Gazzetta dello Sport (via SassuoloNews), Gudmundsson, despite being one of Genoa’s most prized players, is not indispensable. Sassuolo have scouted the winger’s abilities and find him to be a potentially worthwhile investment for the future, but will have to shed nothing less than €10-12M to draw the Grifone’s attention.

Milan, Bologna and Fiorentina have also been linked to Gudmundsson in the past. However, Genoa have not yet transfer listed the Iceland international, making his exit somewhat unlikely. But as mentioned before, Gudmundsson is not indispensable, and Genoa are willing to hear offers.

Sassuolo will continue monitoring Gudmundsson, as he prepares to star with Genoa back in Serie A following the club’s promotion last season, where he played a vital role. The northern club will be led by Alberto Gilardino.
