Gianluigi Buffon Warns Serie A Hopefuls of Napoli Potential

Parma keeper and Juventus legend Gianluigi Buffon believes Inter could make a comeback later this season back on top of the Serie A pedestal, but only based on certain conditions. The Nerazzurri, just like the Bianconeri, have not experienced the best of starts to the season as they sit next to each other in the 7th and 8th position respectively in the league table.

Speaking to La Gazzetta dello Sport (via FCInterNews), the iconic shotstopper reveald what he thinks when quizzed about Inter’s potential to retain the Scudetto title from fellow city rivals Milan.

“Everything is possible, in football as in life. And I experienced it firsthand when we made that wonderful comeback with Juve in 2016”.

However, he believes the Nerazzurri can only succeed by taking advantage of others’ faults, specifying league leaders Napoli in his talk.

“If Napoli were to keep this physical form, this conviction and this quality of play, there would be no chance for anyone. To win starting with a handicap of points, as Inter try to do, you have to take advantage of the missteps of others. It is a complicated undertaking, but definitely possible.”

The Partenopei sit atop Serie A with 29 points from 11 games, three ahead of Milan and five ahead of Lazio. Inter on the other hand, are level on points with Udinese at 21 points.
