Donnarumma Shopped Around by Agent as Negotiation with Milan Lags

The negotiation between Milan and Gianluigi Donnarumma to extend the contract, which is up in the summer, is at an impasse, Sky Sport reported. His agent Mino Raiola has reached out to Juventus, PSG and other clubs to see if they are ready to make a real offer.

The goalkeeper has given his clear priority to the Rossoneri, however the two sides are far apart in the talks. According to the outlet, the club offered €7M-per-year wages, while it was previously rumored that his representative was asking for an eight-figure salary.

However, differently from the previous update in early February, Milan are now open to a short-term deal, a two-year one or even for just one season, in order to hold onto the player and rediscuss the matter in the near future. Raiola previously pushed for this solution and also asked for a low release clause.

Donnarumma has been previously linked to Chelsea, Juventus and PSG, which have long appreciated the young prodigy. The 22-year-old Italian international has been the starter since 2015, amassing 237 appearances and keeping 83 clean sheets.

Our view

Raiola has likely started to drum up the interest in order to put pressure on the Rossoneri and to bring them offers to counter. The goalkeeper could technically already agree to a Bosman move elsewhere, but it would be a shocking development given his great relationship with the club. Milan are dealing with several key contract extensions and will have to tread carefully in order to retain everybody and keep the payroll under control.
