Giroud Turned Down Late Offer to Transfer to Everton

Everton tried to find a striker in Italy up until deadline day, and they made hail-mary attempts for Olivier Giroud and Beto, but to no avail. The Toffies targeted the French to fuel their hopes to avoid relegation, as he’s very familiar with the Premier given his stints at Arsenal and Chelsea.

According to Gianluca Di Marzio, the English outfit offered a six-month contract with a €8.4M option for next season and add-ons if they maintained the division, but the veteran refused. Despite his recent remarks about eyeing a spell in the MLS, he’s fully expected to re-up with the Rossoneri for at least another year, Sky informs.

After Giroud rebuffed them, Everton moved for Beto. They proposed €25M to Udinese, but the Serie A side didn’t want to let him in January, Tuttomercatoweb relays. They have some troubles up front since Gerard Deulofeu will miss a few months due to knee surgery. The Friulani signed Florian Thauvin on a free to fill the void.

While the 2018 World Champion won’t leave Milan, Tiemoué Bakayoko could still depart. After some back-and-forth, his transfer to Adana Demirspor is back on. His agent Andy Bara spoke to Calciomercato.

“There are 90 percent chances he’ll move to Turkey. His brother and I are working on the transfer. No other agent is authorized to speak on his behalf.”

The midfield outcast was close to joining Cremonese, but the Grigiorossi made the deal collapse late. He’s reconsidering a destination he had turned previously dismissed.
