Giuntoli Sorry for Milik Injury, Puts His Faith in Motta

Juventus director Cristiano Giuntoli addressed Arkadiusz Milik and Thiago Motta’s lineup choice before the wild Champions League clash versus RB Leipzig. He spoke to Sky and Amazon Prime Video (via Calciomercato).

“We couldn’t know he’d need another surgery. We’re sorry for us and especially him. However, the boss has proven to be able to move pieces around. We have players that can feature next to Dusan Vlahovic or in his place. He’ll be able to find the right solutions as he’s done in the past. We hope to have him back soon.”

Nicolò Fagioli got another start over some newcomers and there has been consistency up front.

“We’re happy, the coach has many new weapons at his disposal and he’s getting to know them. We’re in an evaluation phase. He probably wants to give continuity to those who arrived later in the summer offensively. It’s a choice. We’re doing very well in this stretch. These games will help us understand where we’re at.”

“We have a new and young roster that that’s very eager to do well. It’d be incorrect to talk about any single player at this stage. Many are performing adequately. We’ve just started a journey that won’t be brief. We are curious to see what they can do too.”

Giuntoli was quizzed about two potential future targets, Benjamin Sesko and Antonio Nusa.

“They are good players, and RB Leipzig really have many of those. They are an important team.”
