Argentina’s Gonzalo Higuain will call time on his playing career at the conclusion of the MLS season. El Pipita had a successful career across multiple clubs, including Napoli, Juventus and AC Milan in Serie A.
During his time in Naples, the striker scored 71 goals in 104 matches. He claimed a Coppa Italia and a Supercoppa Italiana in 2013/14 during his three-year stay with the Partenopei. He then moved to Juventus in the summer of 2016, to the surprise of many. At that point in time, the Argentinian was the most expensive signing by a Serie A club and most expensive South American transfer ever. Both records, along with the most expensive transfer within a domestic league, have all been overtaken.
He played with Juve for three seasons, finding the net on 45 occasions through 108 games. He had a brief stint with Milan on loan from the Bianconeri during the second half of 2018. There, he six times in 15 outings. He was capped 75 times by Argentina, scoring 31 goals.
Since leaving Italian football, Higuain has played with MLS team Inter Miami. His last ever game could be next Sunday if they fail to beat Orlando City. Inter Miami currently sits in seventh spot in the Eastern Conference which is the last playoff spot available.
