Guardiola Plays Mind Games Ahead of UCL Final: “Inter Can Beat Us”

With a crunching finale between Inter and Manchester City looming on the horizon, Spanish tactician Pep Guardiola has already begun playing mind games on Simone Inzaghi and his Nerazzurri outfit.

Guardiola spoke to the microphones of La Gazzetta dello Sport ahead of the most significant phase of the season and reserved praise for Inter.

“I started watching a few minutes of Inter, some situations. I’m really impressed with what they do and their body language. I called some friends who live in Italy to ask them for their opinion: they all told me to stay alert because they are serious. There was actually no need for them to tell me: I had already understood it by looking at those few moments and those situations. They can beat us. They have won this trophy three times and we never have, but we want to play the best we can so that doesn’t happen.”

Both teams are aiming for domestic trophies as well as the season approaches its business end. Inter first face Fiorentina in the Coppa Italia final, whereas City play derby rivals Manchester United in the FA Cup.

Guardiola has already lead the Cityzens to the Premier League this season, beating Arsenal enroute. On the other hand, Inzaghi won Inter the Supercoppa Italiana earlier in the year by ousting Milan to lift the trophy.
