Ibanez Thankful to Mourinho and Roma for Brazil Debut

Roger Ibanez commented on his debut with Brazil and the Roma season while away from the team on international duties. The defender talked with Mola Italia and SportMediaset.

“It’s an unforgettable sensation, and it was a fantastic game. I’m speechless. It’s a big satisfaction. José Mourinho helped me a lot in achieving this goal. I’m going back to Italy now and I’ll be ready to perform, that’s for sure. The group welcome me very well. They are nice people and good athletes. That aided me too. I have to keep working hard now.”

The defender was quizzed about how far Brazil and Roma could go in the World Cup and Serie A.

“I believe we can make it to the end. I’m always thankful to the Giallorossi. What I do with them is key to be selected by the Seleçao. I dedicate this night to my family.”

The center-back further elaborated on the Special One.

“He’s nice and harsh at the same time. He knows how to speak with you and understands the different moments. He’s always been good to me and I thank him a lot.”

Ibanez is optimistic Roma could compete for the title.

“We will fight for the top positions. We’ll always do our best to reach the top of the table.”

The 23-year-old was in talks with the Azzurri before Tite called him up for the latest friendlies. The same thing happened with Gleison Bremer, who will get the Italian citizenship because he married a local. Brazil acted before the paperwork was completed.
