Ibrahimovic Backs Spalletti and Napoli: “They Deserve the Scudetto”

As Inter were beaten 1-0 by Bologna at the Stadio Renato Dall’Ara, Napoli opened up an 18-point gap atop Serie A standings. Milan leveled on 47 points with Inter following their 2-0 victory over Atalanta, but Zlatan Ibrahimovic believes the Luciano Spalletti’s Partenopei deserve the title for their unparalleled showing this campaign.

Speaking to SportMediaset after the win over La Dea at San Siro, Ibrahimovic, who made a winning return to the first-team following a lengthy injury layoff, thinks Spalletti deserves all the credit.

“They are doing very well collectively, they have a great coach who has won trophies but has never won the Scudetto. He can do it this year. He deserves it, Spalletti has done a lot for Italian football, for an Italian to win Serie A it’s the best. This year it’s his and Napoli’s.” (via TuttoNapoli)

Following his 15 minute cameo appearance in the final quarter-hour, Ibrahimovic became the oldest Milan player to take the pitch at 41 years and 146 days. The Rossoneri are now unbeaten in their last four matches across all competitions, registering a clean sheet in each of their wins.
