Icons Del Piero and Trezeguet Offer Help to Revive Juventus

Ex-Juventus duo Alessandro Del Piero and David Trezeguet, who combined to terrorize opposition during the early 2000’s, have now come forward to offer their services off-pitch in times of difficulty for the Bianconeri.

An extensive inquiry into the club’s finances deemed the whole Juventus board to hand in their papers, including chief Andrea Agnelli and CEO Maurizio Arrivabene.

Speaking to La Stampa (via TuttoJuve), Del Piero backed the club that has once again been affected by charges of corruption – twice in less than two decades.

“Nobody called me: I don’t know the plan but I know the club well. I still have a home in Turin. The resignation of the Board of Directors? It is incredible that a company like Juventus must experience these ups and downs.”

He then drew comparison with the club’s relegation to Serie B due to Calciopoli 16 years ago.

“Started with Serie B, but then 9 titled arrived in a row. But it’s not like in 2006 this time, it’s not about the team, but about people, because it’s an accusation about the people, the president and the members of the board of directors.”

Trezeguet on the other hand shared his thoughts on Juventus’ fortunes La Gazzetta dello Sport (via TuttoJuve).

“Juve, you are my home and you know how to react. But if you need, I’ll come back to you. There will be changes, but Andrea Agnelli has done an extraordinary job: the stadium, the sports center, the second team. It was an example. Now John Elkann will have to understand how to handle the situation and we will have to give him time. At Juve, I lived ten years as a footballer and seven in the society. In 2021 I chose to stop being as an ambassador and to return to the sports side. There was no possibility of doing it at Juve but for me Juve is always home,” said the Frenchman.
