Casillas Praises Ex-Teammate Di Maria Ahead of Juventus Move

Legendary Real Madrid goalkeeper Iker Casillas has praised Angel Di Maria for his skills and experience, touting him to be a great signing for Juventus, especially given his onboarding as a free agent after PSG decided not to extend his contract for a further year.

The duo played together in Spain for five years, winning the 2014 UEFA Champions League trophy enroute, where El Fideo himself was the Man of the Match in the final against Atletico Madrid.

The Spanish shot-stopping icon believes the Argentine will be a great fit among a host of other stars, including Paul Pogba, as he told La Gazzetta dello Sport.

“Adding Di Maria is a coup. Angel with Chiesa, Vlahovic and Pogba, what a team! And he will want to get ready for the World Cup. It is clear that he is looking for a team where he can play regularly and prepare himself as best as possible for Qatar.”

Casillas further praised Di Maria for his consistency and fitness, having starred uninterruptedly for teams he has played for, except perhaps Manchester United.

“He is very attentive and has always paid a lot of attention to his physique. He has never suffered serious injuries, he has always been healthy and seems to me to be in great shape. Here in Europe, he has always played at a high level and in big clubs. Di Maria will make Juve take a further leap quality-wise both in Serie A and in Europe.”

The enigmatic 34-year-old winger ends his PSG career with 92 goals in 295 appearances.
