Immobile Injury Alters Lazio Transfer Market Priority

Lazio spent the first part of the January window trying to find a left-back, and they furthered the talks with Luca Pellegrini, but the latest injury suffered by Ciro Immobile will inevitably affect their plans. They don’t have much financial room for additions. They can complete just one unless they part ways with multiple excess players.

According to Alfredo Pedullà, Maurizio Sarri would be content with a winger, as he likes using Felipe Anderson as a false-nine.  The top options to be the deputy striker role remain Federico Bonazzoli and Antonio Sanabria. Salernitana had to take care of more urgent matters in recent days, so the deal didn’t progress much. Instead, Torino would let the Paraguayan striker leave only if they landed Eldor Shomurodov.

Per Quotidiano Nazionale, the candidacy of Mariano Diaz, who’s on an expiring contract and was linked to Lazio for a possible Bosman move, could gain steam for an immediate transfer. However, Real Madrid would have to contribute massively to his wages.

Our Take on Lazio and Their Search for a Forward

It’s disheartening that the long break didn’t allow Immobile to get completely right physically after dealing with multiple muscular problems. At this point, they have no alternatives to finding another weapon, and not just for the next six months. Either a winger or a striker, it should be somebody on the young-ish side with potential. Bonazzoli and Sanabria would be so-so short-term fixes, even though the Salernitana forward plays with the right fire.
