Ciro Immobile addressed the criticism against him, looked back at his career, and previewed the 2022/2023 season in an interview with former teammate turned pundit Marco Parolo for DAZN (via La Repubblica).
“Some opinions, but not everybody’s, make me think, other laugh. They anger me at times. But, in the end, as the people close to me say, I think that only when I will stop playing everybody will realize what I really achieved.”
Immobile recalled his spells at Borussia Dortmund and Sevilla.
“I would have liked to spend more time with the former. I was really at ease in the first six months there. Instead, the coach and I didn’t see eye-to-eye in Andalusia. It can happen during the course of a career. I could have definitely done more in Bundesliga.”
The striker revealed a small fight with Simone Inzaghi.
“In 2019, in Lazio-Parma, I made a mistake and yelled at him for replacing me because I wanted to keep playing. He told me that he didn’t expect that from me and that it was hurtful. However, I went to hug him after scoring versus Genoa and everything was resolved.”
Finally, Immobile dished on his competitors for the Capocannoniere title.
“I think Romelu Lukaku will bag 20/25 goals, instead Lautaro Martinez 13/18. I expect Dusan Vlahovic to hit the net at least 20 times. In my mind, Luka Jovic won’t do better than 15. Tammy Abraham will log between 15 and 20 goals, while Victor Osimhen 19.”
