Milan beat Lecce 4-1 in their return to Serie A duties last night, and one Hakan Calhanoglu caught the eye of watching fans.
In arguably their best attacking performance under Stefano Pioli, Milan returned to domestic action with an impressive win away at relegation threatened Lecce.
Samu Castillejo opened to scoring just before the half-hour mark, before Lecce equazised soon after the restart – Marco Mancosu converting the spot-kick.
But Milan were level for only a minute before Giacomo Bonaventura put them back ahead, and two minutes later it was three thanks to Ante Rebic.
Rafael Leao then scored his third Serie A goal of the season to round a fine win for Milan.
It was Calhanoglu who emerged as the fans’ Man of the Match though, after providing the assists for both Castillejo and Rebic on the night. Here’s how the Milan fans reacted to the Turk’s performance on Twitter last night:
Calhanoglu in position is a great player, ive always said that. Also Kessie looked like a monster today, great team win

Calhanoglu was great. Needs to be great against Roma as well.

Which is why I said "one of" his best performances.
Certainly this season, it was the best we've seen from Hakan Calhanoglu.

Calhanoglu and Kessie were incredible today. Kessie is a new player in the double pivot midfield and it’s great to see him use his strengths

Calhanoglu with two assists and was involved in all four goals against Lecce.
I have high hopes for Hakan under Rangnick.

I know it's only Lecce but I really liked how Milan played throughout the match. They were direct, mobile & able to combine in tight spaces. First time we score 4 goals this season & Calhanoglu probably played his best match in Milan shirt.
