Injured Chiesa Forces Juventus to Shortlist Two Attacking Targets

Federico Cheisa’s fateful Anterior Cruciate Ligament (ACL) injury against Roma in the thrilling 4-3 victory for the Bianconeri dictated the end of the EURO 2020 winner’s season – ruling him out of the remainder of 2021/22.

His untimely injury, when Juventus were only just beginning to get back into groove, has prompted the Turin giants to hunt for reinforcements before the end of the current window.

Sky Sports transfer expert Gianluca Di Marzio has reported that Zenit St. Petersburg forward Sardar Azmoun is the Bianconeri’s number one target, after who comes into play after Memphis Depay. The latter is a familiar name, given Juventus’ latest saga with Barcelona regarding the potential departure of Alvaro Morata.

Juventus reportedly want a flexible option to replace Chiesa – not necessarily an attacking winger.

Earlier, when Depay was proposed to switch to Juventus in a swap deal involving Morata, coach Max Allegri denied looking for a winger and wanted a traditional striker instead. However, Chiesa’s injury changes things for the Bianconeri.

A loan move for Dutchman Depay may be on the cards for Juventus, who are in a race against time to reinforce their frontline.
