Insigne Complimentary About Italy, Delays Napoli Matters to After Euro

Lorenzo Insigne discussed the upcoming match versus Austria from Coverciano earlier today. “Roberto Mancini uses a scheme that fits my skills and those of my teammates. I had to adapt to other formations in the past. The youngsters are like living a fairy tale, and that is good for us as well. They instill their enthusiasm into the old guard. It is my first competition in a starring role, and I am trying to give more than 100 percent to repay the trust.”

Insigne continued: “Other teams envy our midfield since it has great quality and intensity. It helps the attack a lot. We play our style of football against any opponent; we do not change it, and that is our strength. Ciro Immobile and Andrea Belotti create a lot of room for the wingers, and the defenders do not know whom to follow. It would be a dream to score at Wembley, but the most important thing is to win.”

The attacker warned about Austria: “We have seen their games; they run and press a lot and are very aggressive when they lose the ball. We need to study them deeper, but we must focus on what we are capable of doing.”

Insigne shot down questions about his future: “My only focus is on the Euro; the time will come to talk with the club. I texted with Gennaro Gattuso, and he told me that there were some problems in Florence. I have no regrets about my career since I have always wanted to play for Napoli and to be their captain, therefore I am super happy.”  He has only a year left on his deal with the Partenopei, and the president reportedly asked him to take a pay cut, causing some frictions.
