Inter About to Complete Succession Plan on the Wing

Carlos Augusto is slated to move to Inter to replace Robin Gosens. The deal accelerated abruptly once Union Berlin reached an agreement with the Nerazzurri for the German international, Tuttomercatoweb relays.

Monza director Adriano Galliani revealed that the Brazilian directly picked them.

“He wanted to play in the cups and deserves it because he’s one of the best wingbacks in Europe. He’ll be able to aim for a call-up by his national team. We had to decide between selling him or keeping him and losing him for nothing in a few months. I’m sorry, like all our fans, but we had to do it. Carlos Augusto chose Inter because they participate in the Champions League.”

The Nerazzurri will take advantage of their leverage. The final meeting with his agent Giuseppe Riso will take place Monday. The 24-year-old will join on loan with a €13M obligation to buy.

La Beneamata will cash in €15M from shipping Gosens to Union Berlin, Goal relays. He’ll play in Bundesliga for the first time.

Our Take on Inter Signing Carlos Augusto

The switch on the flank is a no-brainer. Simone Inzaghi can toy with fielding him and Federico Dimarco together when he wants to be aggressive, as both can play in the backline. However, the Nerazzurri should have perhaps used the money to address their attack rather than bolstering a role that’s already a strength.
