Inter About to Re-Engage in Negotiation with Skriniar

Inter are ready to reprise the extension talks with Milan Skriniar, which haven’t made much progress after the failed summer attempt by PSG. CEO Giuseppe Marotta recently stated that they were considering handing him the captain’s armband if he re-upped. Samir Handanovic has lost his starting job and is on an expiring deal.

As per La Gazzetta dello Sport, the Nerazzurri will meet his agent Roberto Sistici early next week. They would like to come to an understanding before the January window. Though, even if their offer was turned down, they are leaning towards keeping him for the entire season rather than accepting a low winter bid from the Ligue 1 giants. They would risk losing him for nothing in June, but they would benefit massively on the pitch.

Inter will tender €6M per year plus add-ons to Skriniar. It’s the same salary as Lautaro Martinez and Marcelo Brozovic. But they are wary he might ask for more. PSG had promised him a richer contract had he joined. La Beneamata never budged from their €70M request, especially after Juventus beat them to the punch for Gleison Bremer.

Stefan De Vrij is in the same situation, but things will proceed more slowly on that front. He informed Rafaela Pimenta that he was leaving the agency of the late Mino Raiola. He hasn’t picked a new representative yet. Lawyer Sebastien Ledure, who engineered the return of Romelu Lukaku, assisted him in a previous legal battle, but he hasn’t been formally hired. The proposal by Inter will be lower than the one for Skriniar, and a lot will hinge on the center-back’s wishes. The Dutchman is reportedly interested in playing in the Premier League.
