Inter Ahead of Roma and Juventus to Capture Morata

Inter have gained the upper hand in the chase of Alvaro Morata, while Roma have been warned of the costs of the acquisition, and Juventus need to sell somebody before moving concretely. The Spanish striker is seen as an ideal fit by Simone Inzaghi, who’d like an experienced player, Sky informs.

Atletico Madrid will let him go only for €20M. No Italian side offered that much yet. The Nerazzurri also appreciate Folarin Balogun, but he’d need time to adjust, on top of being more expensive. Instead, Beto and Mehdi Taremi are lower on their wish list.

Roma met with the agent of Morata and were informed of the conditions of the signing, which wouldn’t be cheap, factoring in his sizeable wages. Director Tiago Pinto will discuss whether to move forward with the owner.

Per Alfredo Pedullà, Inter tendered €15M. They’ll likely have to raise the sum as Atletico Madrid are in no mood for discounts. Though, they were the only ones to put forth a formal bid, while their competitors simply inquired. The center-forward would be content to return to Italy no matter the destination.

Our Take on Morata

Inter have the most pressing need and, more importantly, the deepest pockets at this stage. They’d benefit more from signing a very physical striker, but he’d mesh well with Lautaro Martinez too.
