Inter Aim at Dortmund Star to Replenish Their Defense

Inter are seeking a direct replacement to take PSG target Milan Skriniar’s place in the heart of Simone Inzaghi’s defense, and Manuel Akanji has emerged as a possible contender to fill in. The Slovak ace is touted to leave the Nerazzurri after five successful seasons.

As per the latest reports from Germany via renowned outlet Bild (via SportBuzzer), the Nerazzurri are aiming to lure Swiss international from Borussia Dortmund in a €30M deal. No official moves have been made by the Italians amid mere reports of heightened interest in him and his addition to their wishlist, which now includes Min-Jae Kim and Gleison Bremer, who remains their priority target.

26-year-old Akanji concluded his fifth season with Die Schwarzgelben last campaign, and with 158 caps to his name, he has enough experience to wear the Inter colors. The former Basel man sees his BVB contract expire in the summer of 2023 and already has attracted the sights of several foreign clubs, including Arsenal, Juventus and Manchester United.

Andrea Ranochhia has already departed Inter on a free transfer, whereas there are no guarantees of Stefan De Vrij staying back at the Meazza next season, making signing another center-back the need of the hour.
