Inter Already Shifting Their Focus Toward Future Moves

Inter haven’t planned any other acquisition besides Tomas Palacios this summer. The talks with Independiente Rivadavia, Club Talleres, and his camp will continue after the weekend. Their strategy for the future won’t be much different than the recent past, TuttoSport informs (via OneFootball).

The Nerazzurri haven’t been able to snap up a pacey striker this summer. They won’t given the difficulties in offloading Marko Arnautovic and Joaquin Correa. Both will come off their books in a year, though.

Inter have set sights on Jonathan David and will do their best to land him on a Bosman move. A new center-back will be their other priority. Francesco Acerbi and Stefan De Vrij are 37 and 33 respectively. Their contracts also expire in 2025, so they’d have to come to terms on an extension to stay.

The Nerazzurri wish to bag the Canadian star on a free in order to have a larger budget for a reinforcement in the back. They made a late attempt for Alessandro Buongiorno, but there weren’t the premises to overtake Napoli.

Our Take on Inter

It’s a little early to think about next summer, but, given all the contractual deadlines, they’ll have to be busier than the ongoing one. They still bolstered the squad thanks to the acquisitions they set up in advance, but nothing has happened since Oaktree has taken over. Despite their declarations, they have indeed tightened the belt. We’ll see whether it was simple caution due to the recency of the ownership change, or if it’ll be the way to go in the future too. Not agreeing to a new contract with Denzel Dumfries before deadline day is a big risk. Missing out on Albert Gudmundsson was a whiff.
