Inter Reportedly in the Mix for Arsenal Defender Kiwior

Riccardo Calafiori is inching closer to a move to Arsenal, which might lead to the departure of Jakub Kiwior, and Inter are the latest Italian powerhouse linked to the Polish defender, Alfredo Pedullà informs.

The Nerazzurri are looking for a left-footed center-back following Tajon Buchanan’s injury. The newcomer would chiefly back up Alessandro Bastoni. Instead, Carlos Augusto would deputize exclusively Federico Dimarco on the left wing.

Kiwior would be an ideal fit, plus the new Inter ownership prefers investing in youngsters rather than veterans. They’d rather sign him over Mario Hermoso, who’s an option primarily because he’s a free agent.

The Nerazzurri don’t have a lot to spend and will test the waters about whether they could get the defender on loan with an option or a conditioned obligation to buy. Juventus and Milan have been attached to the former Spezia starlet too. However, the Bianconeri are only lukewarm on him despite his ties with Thiago Motta. They could eventually sign another center-back but have different priorities for now.

Rossoneri director Geoffrey Moncada is a long-time fan of the player. It’s uncertain whether they’ll add another man without a departure. Napoli would also be keen if they missed out on Hermoso. The 24-year-old has a €20M price tag.

Our Take on Kiwior

Given his versatility, he’d help any team, perhaps a little more for those using a three-man defense. It could come down to his will, though. He’d be a full-time starter on some sides and only a rotational player on others.
