Inter Make List of Possible Destinations for Liverpool Striker

Inter are canvassing the market to find a back-up for Romelu Lukaku and the most recent option on the table is Divock Origi, who is on his way out from Liverpool, Corriere dello Sport reported today. The 25-year-old striker is looking for a new team as the arrival of Diogo Jota has further reduced his playing time: he has featured in eight matches so far and for just seven minutes in Premier League.

The outlet adds that Origi has been offered by his agents to multiple clubs, including Wolverhampton, Newcastle, Brighton, Aston Villa and Schalke 04. The Nerazzurri would have the advantage of pairing him up with Lukaku, something that already happens in the Belgian national team, and higher caliber compared to competitors. For the same role, Inter are monitoring Gervinho, Kevin Lasagna and Leonardo Pavoletti and could use Andrea Pinamonti as a bargaining chip.

Our view

It seems that the situation is more driven by the agents, who are shopping their client, rather than from the team’s interest. Origi would be a fine addition as he has experience in the same role in a top-notch club and he could easily play alongside Lukaku as they have different skill-sets. However, it would be just a lateral move for him if his priority is to have more consistent minutes, as the Beneamata will continue to rely heavily on Lautaro Martinez and Alexis Sanchez as well and have a less crowded schedule without European competitions.
