Bayern Munich and Inter have concurred on the fee for Benjamin Pavard. The German champions want to wait to find a replacement before letting the Frenchman depart, but it shouldn’t be a hindrance. It’s just a matter of time before he travels to Milan, La Gazzetta dello Sport informs.
The Nerazzurri will have to shell out €30M plus €2M add-ons to onboard the defender. They aren’t getting much of a discount even though his contract expires in 2024, and he didn’t want to prolong it.
Per Calciomercato, Inter aim to bring in Pavard before the weekend. If everything goes according to plan, he’ll take the medicals and put pen to paper before next Monday’s match versus Cagliari. Coach Simone Inzaghi hopes to have him available for the second Serie A matchday. It may happen regardless of whether Bayern signed somebody else first.
The Bavarians have also offloaded Josip Stanisic in recent days. They are in talks to acquire Lutsharel Geertruida for Feyenoord to replenish their backline, Tageszeitung reports (via Tuttomercatoweb). His price tag is equivalent.
Our Take on Inter and Pavard
Considering what happened with the Lazar Samardzic deal and others beforehand, the Nerazzurri shouldn’t count their chickens before they hatch, but it’d be an excellent signing. The fee is arguably a tad high, but they weren’t the only ones after him.
