Inter and Manchester United Lead Milan in Race for Argentine Sensation

River Plate starlet Julian Alvarez made his name earlier this season, putting in impressive performances against the likes of eternal rivals Boca Juniors in the Superclasico. The 21-year-old Argentine talent is one of football’s hottest prospects at the moment and it seems very likely he will leave Buenos Aires for European pastures.

According to Spanish outlet SPORT, Premier League giants Manchester United are in pole position to sign him. However, contrasting reports from La Gazzetta dello Sport (via MilanNews) indicate that Inter are also hot on his trail.

The Argentine wonderkid has been on the sights of several giants, including Bayern Munich, Milan, Real Madrid and Barcelona, but it is the aforementioned duo who are pole contenders for his signature.

His agent, Fernando Hidalgo, is currently on a tour around England and Italy to hold talks for the youngster’s future. The South American Footballer of the Year has a release clause of €20m, with his contract expiring at the end of the current year, in December 2022.

The River Plate youth product has already won numerous trophies with the Argentine giants, including the Copa Libertadores and Primera Division.

In 2021, he played 53 games, scoring 23 goals and providing 18 assists in the process. Alvarez was also part of Argentina’s Copa America winning team last year.
