Inter and Milan Bring Their Newcomers In for Medicals

Romelu Lukaku arrived in Italy earlier this morning to finalize his Inter return, while Divock Origi completed his Milan move yesterday. The Nerazzurri have also planned the tests for young midfielder Kristjan Asllani for today.

The striker told the journalists that were waiting for him at the airport (via La Gazzetta dello Sport).

“I am too happy to be here.”

He will spend the morning at the Humanitas clinic in Rozzano and then head to the CONI headquarters for further exams before putting pen to paper. The Empoli starlet will do the same. It is unknown whether the club will announce the deals today or later on.

While Lukaku is about to formalize his Inter reunion, Origi landed in Italy to sign with Milan yesterday. The free-agent acquisition will likely become official after June 1st. Liverpool allowed him to take the medicals before the end of his contract. He has inked a four-year deal and will earn €3.5M plus add-ons, TuttoSport informs. He might be the only addition set up a while back by the Rossoneri to resist the ownership change.

Our Take on Inter and Milan Signing Lukaku and Origi

The Nerazzurri bringing back their ace is a coup. While he will join on a season-long loan, the two teams will probably find a way for him to stay longer. The Scudetto winners had struck an agreement with the Reds super-sub before losing Zlatan Ibrahimovic for at least half of next season due to injury. It will be interesting to see whether they will roll into 2022/2023 with just him and Olivier Giroud at the position, sprinkling in some Ante Rebic. Or if they will go after another center-forward or at least somebody that can occasionally feature there.
