Inter and Milan to Reportedly Duel Over Chelsea-Owned Wingback

Antonio Conte’s obsession in wingbacks is hardly a secret. The four-time Scudetto winning manager would search all around the globe to find a hard working flank-man who can contribute on both phases of the match. Enter Davide Zappacosta, a versatile player who previously worked with him at Chelsea, but Inter could reportedly face some competition from their cross-town neighbors Milan for his signature.

According to il Secolo XIX via Calciomercato, Genoa will find it very hard to maintain the 28-year-old beyond the current season, as the two northern giants will try to lure him towards Milano.

As we mentioned yesterday, the Italian has been very impressive this term, and would prove to be bargain for whoever manages to sign him for next season.

The wingback can play either on the left or right flank, and can cause havoc for defenses with his cuts and shots, or with his menacing crosses. This term, he managed to score four goals and provided two assists for the Grifone.

The former Atalanta and Torino man had been unable to showcase his best skills in the past few season due to recurring injury problems, and a loan move to Roma last term was plagued by an early serious knock.

Nevertheless, thanks to his performances this term, Zappacosta managed to reignite the interest of the likes of Inter and Milan who will be hoping to secure his services.

For their part, Chelsea will be looking to offload the Italian once and for all on permanent basis, and Genoa will be expected to be left behind, as they won’t be able to compete with the bigger Serie A sides, especially that the Blues are reportedly not planning on letting him go too cheaply.
