Inter and Touted Youngster Rejected Bids Before Renewal

Inter recently announced to have extended the contract of Kristjan Asllani until 2028. He has played sparingly but somewhat consistently in his first two seasons at San Siro, and the Nerazzurri believe in his potential. Moreover, the figures are relatively small compared to their top players.

According to Nicolò Schira, the youngster enjoyed a 25/30 percent pay bump and will make €1.5M from now on. He has collected 64 appearances since moving to Milan, scoring once and providing 2 assists.

Inter paid nearly €15M to acquire Asllani from Empoli with the formula of the loan with a mandatory option to buy. The team and the brass repelled some offers in the summer. Fiorentina, which got very busy at the position late in the window and signed Edoardo Bove, Danilo Cataldi, and Yacine Adli, and some Bundesliga sides had him on their radar.

The 22-year-old and the side were in unison about sticking together, and it indeed happened. He has played in every game so far and drew his first start in the most recent one versus Monza. He has 25 caps with Albania.

Our Take on Asllani

The extension is a no-brainer as it doesn’t break the bank and will protect them from future bids. It’s tough to blossom fully behind an absolute cornerstone and stud like Hakan Calhanoglu, but the ideal scenario for the team would be to simply hand him the keys once the Turk will be on his merry way or too old to start in most games. He’s not at that level yet, though.
