Inter and Tottenham Target Has Future Release Clause

Gleison Bremer will be a hot commodity in the summer, but his price tag might not spike due to a release clause in his revised contract. It does not come into effect in the upcoming window, but it could still have an impact.

According to Corriere dello Sport (via Tuttomercatoweb) the defender asked and obtained to depart for just €15M from January 2023 on in the recent extension talks. His previous deal would have expired at the end of next season. Torino managed to tack on another year to have more leverage. However, they had to accept the request to make it happen.

The defender is rumored to have his heart set on joining Inter. Tottenham, Chelsea, and Bayern Munich expressed interest too, the publication informs. The Nerazzurri could use the release clause of Bremer as a starting point in the negotiation with Torino, adding robust bonuses. Other teams might not be willing to splurge either since they could get the defender for a moderate fee just by waiting a few months.

Our Take on Bremer’s Release Clause

It is a negative development for Torino and their wish to drum up a bidding war. It could still happen, but this wrinkle will likely put a cap on the price tag. Inter are the clear frontrunners for Bremer, and the release clause, albeit future, helps them in the talks. However, the Nerazzurri probably need to sell one of their defenders first. The other suitors will have their chances to outbid them early on.
