Inter Announce Much Awaited Brozovic Contract Extension

Inter have officially agreed to a new contract with Marcelo Brozovic. The previous deal of the star midfielder was set to expire in June. The new one will run through 2026. Unlike other cases in Serie A, the risk of him leaving was mostly seen as minor.

According to Sky Sport, the Croatian midfielder will earn €6M in each of the next four seasons. He was making €3.5M before putting pen-to-paper. The parties met to negotiate a few times during the winter. Things always seem headed for a positive resolution despite the interest from other European powerhouses.

Brozovic originally joined Inter from Dinamo Zagreb in January 2015. He has been an integral part of the squad especially since 2018, with Luciano Spalletti at the helm. He has become a cornerstone of the lineup once he turned into a deep-lying playmaker after playing in different roles in his early days in Milan.

The 29-year-old has accumulated 279 appearances thus far, scoring 26 goals. He contributed to winning the Scudetto last season and the Supercoppa in the current one. Inter have never been successful when Brozovic was out of the lineup in 2021-2022.

Having completed their most pressing extension, the Nerazzurri will turn their attention to their other players. Milan Skriniar stated earlier today after receiving an award in Slovakia: “I am under contract with my club until 2023, and I think I will stay longer than that. I feel that the front office is happy with my performances and will offer me a new deal.”
