Marko Arnautovic has recovered from his significant thigh injury. The Austrian talisman returned to full training at the start of the week. He’ll be on the bench versus RB Salzburg, La Gazzetta dello Sport informed.
The return of the center-forward will allow Simone Inzaghi to rotate his men a little more. Lautaro Martinez and Marcus Thuram have started basically every match so far. Alexis Sanchez did it just once in the past month. He might be in the XI in the midweek Champions League encounter.
Arnautovic was diagnosed with a medium-grade biceps femoris strain in late September. He had featured six times, getting the nod once, before the injury. He has provided an assist but failed to score in his previous appearances.
The 34-year-old joined the Nerazzurri last summer from Bologna in a season-long loan with an obligation to make the transfer permanent for €8M, plus €2M add-ons. It’ll be triggered once they collect a point in February. He inked a two-year contract.

Their attack will resume being whole and well-assorted. However, considering how strong they have been going, it’ll be tough to keep one between Thuram and Martinez on the bench in any given fixture, especially since he and Sanchez haven’t been particularly effective. Plus, he’ll need time to round into shape given his frame. The fact that he was right on schedule gives the management time to assess him ahead of January.
