Inter to Break Milan Record in Return Leg of EuroDerby

Inter host Milan in a mouthwatering return leg at the San Siro on Tuesday evening, looking to beat their brotherly rivals in a bid to make it their first UEFA Champions League final appearance since the historic treble-winning season in 2009/10. And following just a week after the record-breaking Derby della Madonnina, hosted by AC, Inter will surpass the gate receipts of the Rossoneri.

For the second time in a week, the Stadio Giuseppe Meazza is completely sold out. According to La Gazzetta dello Sport, the Nerazzurri are expected to bag €12M from ticketing revenue, €2M more than what Milan registered last week.

It is largely thanks to inflated prices due to the magnitude of the encounter, after keeping them relatively affordable for earlier knockout clashes against Porto and Benfica.

Last week’s derby saw 75,532 fans fill the historic venue, bringing exactly 10,461,705 euros into the Red Devil’s coffers. That still remains the highest ever revenue ever garnered by an Italian club in history, but only until Inter host Milan in the semi-final return leg.

Inter hold a comfortable 2-0 lead over the Rossoneri going into the clash, thanks to quickfire goals from Edin Dzeko and Henrikh Mkhitaryan – their first-ever win against Milan on the European stage.
