Inter CEO Marotta Addresses Some of the Recent Rumors

Inter have been tipped to rekindle their interest in Lazar Samardzic and go after Andrea Colpani in the future, but Giuseppe Marotta shot down the buzz about the former and kept things close to the vest concerning the Brianzoli star. He spoke after an event organized by the Lombardy government (via Fantacalcio).

“We have an excellent relationship with Monza, and they have quality players in their squad. If there are concrete things, we’ll handle them later on.”

Marotta seemingly ruled out a January attempt for Lazar Samardzic.

“We already made one in the past. We’re focused on the present and not the future. It’s not a current matter.”

The CEO is confident about Lautaro Martinez putting pen to paper on a new deal.

“We’re tending to that contract extension and a few others along with Piero Ausilio. These players have shown a strong sense of belonging. We’re flattered by that, and we’ll do things with calm. It’s a situation that doesn’t create any issue. We need to handle these dynamics during the season, but we’re focused on the next two matches now.”

Marotta was quizzed about the future of the Chinese ownership.

“Their cycle started in 2018 and has been a very positive model that led to many satisfactions. We missed out on some, but our self-awareness has grown. We shouldn’t forget their contribution over the years. The history of the club and the fans demand us to be competitive at all times.”
