Inter are tending to several contract extensions, and Giuseppe Marotta believes all negotiations will have a positive outcome. He touched on the topic to various outlets before the victory against RB Salzburg (via Quotidiano Sportivo).
“Every player in the squad voiced his intention to prolong their stay with us, which is a great result. It means that the club is back to being strong and desired by many. With due confidentiality, we’re in touch with many agents to make the team more solid and lasting through longer contracts.”
The Nerazzurri are in talks with Henrikh Mkhitaryan, Lautaro Martinez, Denzel Dumfries, and Federico Dimarco in particular. Marotta praised his colleague Piero Ausilio for the Marcus Thuram signing.
“It was his idea. We had been following for a while, then an injury prevented us from onboarding him sooner. We’re proud of this good deal. The directors form a nice and compact squad, we have a clear strategy, and there’s a logic behind our negotiations.”
Marotta prefers playing in the Champions League despite its toll.
“Starring in this competition flatters and motivates you, which is a positive. It has to be managed from a psychophysical standpoint. It’s better to participate than not. Being able to plan a week without injuries or matches with short turnarounds can help. However, in the end, I think the best team always comes out on top regardless.”
